Jenilee embarked on her career in midwifery after earning a Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Sexuality and Gender Health Justice from Yale University. She laid the foundation for her education at St. Andrew’s in Middletown, DE, before continuing her studies at Barnard College of Columbia University. In 2021, Jenilee was inducted into the prestigious Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society. She is board-certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board.
Jenilee’s initial interest in midwifery was sparked while shadowing midwives at Dedicated to Women, where she witnessed the holistic care provided through education and compassion. Her commitment to reproductive justice became a central theme in her academic research and was further reflected in her work as a wellness and sex educator at Barnard College. As a hospital-based doula, Jenilee learned how to build trust-based relationships during labor experiences, offering education through a holistic approach. She also developed techniques to support individuals during labor, whether they chose an epidural or opted for an unmedicated birth.
