What is the MIGS Designation?

The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology offers the MIGS designation in order to recognize providers who have “additional surgical expertise and dedicate a significant percentage of their practice to the care of women with benign and complex gynecologic diseases and manage complications using minimally invasive surgical techniques.” It also creates a more focused professional development path for gynecologists like Dr. Hartmann and Dr. Moylan, who are interested in staying up to date with the latest techniques and technology.

What is Required to Earn a MIGS Designation?

  • Board-certification from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • At least three years of experience in clinical practice with a MIGS focus
  • Recent completion of subspecialty training
  • At least 100 minimally-invasive gynecologic surgery procedures in the last 12 months
  • Passing a computer-based exam testing knowledge, judgment, and skills
