Change is Coming! New Electronic Medical Record system

Beginning in September Dedicated to Women will be making a major change in our practice. We have been undergoing the process of converting to Community Connect Epic Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system and our new platform begins next week on Monday 9-10-18. This will be the same Epic EMR platform utilized by Bayhealth within all their facilities and locations. The goal of this transition is to give our community and patients more access to their individual health records and control over their healthcare delivery and services. This access will give any DTW patient the ability to walk into any Bayhealth facility and those providers and care teams within Bayhealth will have full access to a patient’s medical chart and history and vice versa eliminating redundant paperwork, patients’ requests for records and referral headaches among others.

DTW patients will also gain access to Epic MyChart. This program also interfaces with Bayhealth to request appointments, view lab results, communicate directly with your DTW providers care team, view and pay bills, and much more. Epic EMR is one of the two major Electronic records that make up over 50% of United States hospital and private practice systems and 8.8% of systems worldwide.

To prepare for this transition we have lowered our available appointments for the next two weeks to ensure a smooth transition. We ask that you bear with us over the next month as we get back up to speed within our group. To allow for a limitation of visits we have tried to remove or reschedule any non-acute visits to allow for complete availability to our obstetric patient population. Any patient who is going thru pregnancy or has an emergent need will have the same access to care they have always had and we have full and complete availability to them.

Please be mindful that visits may take an extra few minutes over the next month as we learn our new operations and functions. Phone calls to our office may have a slightly longer than average wait time for this month. We truly apologize for the inconvenience however we hope as members of our community and patient population that you can understand the benefits this opportunity brings us.

We are excited for this transition and look forward to continuing to provide exceptional care to our community.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
