To our patients and their families,
We come to you to provide an update on ObGyn healthcare in Delaware. The past several years has been so incredibly difficult for everyone, and it doesn’t seem to be easing up. The state of Delaware and the nation is enduring the continued closing of ObGyn practices at alarming rates. In just the last three years, eight ObGyn practices have closed, with five closing in the last six months. This has led to a major shortage of ObGyn practitioners in the area.
Dedicated to Women is working hard to be available for the many pregnant women who need and deserve prenatal care. Because of this, we know appointments are filling up quickly. If we need to cancel your scheduled appointment, please know we would only do so for urgent surgeries, provider illness, or other emergencies that require immediate attention. We are in the process of hiring new providers and staff.
We have two new providers joining us in September who will help care for the increased number of patients. Please know that Dedicated to Women is as strong as ever, and there is no need to be concerned about our longevity in the communities we serve.
We take pride in our professionalism, and it is very important for us that you continue to trust us not only as health care providers but also community members who have the utmost respect for our patients and their time. We will do our level best in the latter part of this year to increase scheduling and opportunities to be seen in one of our four offices throughout Delaware. We continue to do all our deliveries at Bayhealth’s Kent Campus.
